creative activism

I'm back from England and back in the studio.

There's a new moon and a total eclipse of the sun, and I'm talking about spiritual bypassing, knowing what sort of activist you are, and a new project Im taking on.

Due to the particulars of my technology set-up, it takes me a long time to record, edit, and post these videos. Invariably, when I watch them back there are things I wish I'd said differently.

*In this video, when I say that the racism and misogyny we are dealing with is "nothing new," that is in no way meant to play down the very real suffering that is happening now, nor is it meant to deflect blame from the current administration which has emboldened and re-energized hate groups in this country.

*Also, when I hear myself say, "we will be okay," and "we're going to love ourselves to a better world," I wince a little. This is no time for cries of, can't we all just get along, and I want to be clear, that's not what this is. I do have great hope that we will be okay and that love will prevail (love you, Boston!), but I know, too, that things may get much worse before they get better. The love I mean is the big love. The Jesus love. The love that refuses to to turn a blind eye to hatred and bigotry. The love that does the hard work. Love thy neighbor love.
