This week began with a deep dive spiritual retreat with best friends I’ve known for 30 years.


It was prayerful, beautiful, and illuminating.

And we got to explore Louisville a little bit, too, despite the cold and snow.

I saw so many things I wanted to buy. So many.

I could have moved right in to this place:

I came home with my solar plexus spinning and the sort of tiredness you feel when you’ve just done something really good and important.

It took me a moment to catch my breath and reorient myself.

Did I mention it’s cold?

When have you been surprised by the convergence of laughter and prayer?

I’m liking this tiny passage of a current painting, but the rest of the painting is struggling. I love the process of layers on layers. I’m always surprised how things turn out.

Honestly, I’m also kind of surprised it’s already Friday and surprised it’s almost the end of January, but here we are.

I’m drinking a lot of cinnamon tea and watching classic movies in the evenings, recently, this one.
