Paint Your Self-Love Portrait

I want to live in a world where every woman understands how deeply loved she is, how important the story of her life, how beautiful.

I want to live in a world where everyone understands, she is a creator.

It breaks my heart when I see women putting their well-being on the back burner, dimming their light, holding themselves a part from creative self-expression.

I want you to feel how loved you really are. I want you to feel yourself as love. I want you to find yourself by losing yourself in the practice of spiritual painting.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional artist or have never picked up a paintbrush before – this course is for you.

If you need a little more love in your life – this course is for you.

Loving yourself doesn’t mean you put yourself above all others. It doesn’t mean you are elevated to some sort of cozy uber-comfortable state where you feel no pain. It doesn’t mean you’re always pleased with what you see in the mirror, what’s happening in your bed, or the work you’re producing.

It does mean that you remember your own sacredness.

Self-love is an opening.

You do not have to court love or create it.

You are already loved, abundantly and completely. You are love, born of love.

Self-love is about opening your heart to what is already true:

You are a child of God.

You have a place here.

This course is a journey.

It’s about process, not product.

It’s about love – opening your heart and feeling the love that surrounds you and flows through you.

This painting and the one that preceded it would not have been possible without the gracious nurturing of Lori-Lyn Hurley, an artist here in Lexington who offers video classes, not in the technical aspects of painting, but in what I would call a “contemplative” process of painting. I have always wanted to paint and have enjoyed my occasional attempts at it, but it never occurred to me that I would love it so much.
— Jonel Sallee

Self-love isn’t about reaching out for something, it’s about turning inward, finding the clarity in stillness, hearing the heartbeat of God within your own chest.

Self-love is remembering your sacredness.
