HOW THIS ROOM WORKS
Love first. Always.
Most writing groups will tell you what's wrong with your pages before they tell you what's right. We do it the other way around.
The Circle Rule is simple: before anything gets critiqued, we name what's working. What you love. What lands.
This isn't a workshop in the traditional sense. There's no instructor circling your sentences in red. This is a small group of women, and a practice of writing and reading with one another.
You'll leave a season with more than written pages. You'll leave trusting your own voice, and knowing you're not writing alone anymore.
Why “Constellation”
In my twenties, living in Brooklyn and feeling like I'd lost myself and my voice, I passed a flier stapled to a telephone pole. It seemed to glow and drew me to it like a magnet.
It was an announcement for a writing group. I’ve always hated making phone calls. Even so, I tore the number from the tab on the bottom of the flier and called. Eight weeks later, I had my voice back.
The woman who ran that group was kind and serious about the work in equal measure. My peers in that room helped me rediscover mysef. They encouraged me to apply to graduate school. I did. I got in. I earned my MFA.
I have never forgotten what that group gave me. The Constellation Room is my way of building that space again and sharing the magic with you.
No single star tells the whole story of the sky. Your voice becomes something else entirely once it's part of a pattern larger than itself.

No. It’s writing. Sometimes writing does some of the same work therapy does, but I’m not a therapist and this isn’t a substitute for one.

If you write, you’re a writer. If you want to write, you’re a writer. That’s it. That’s the whole qualification.

The Circle asks for two live sessions per season plus one conversation with me. You decide how much time you give the weekly prompts.
